The Fremantle Historical Bus Tour Company is an Australian Family Owned and Operated Business. Brought to you by Peter Nelson a local Western Australian who has worked extensively in and around Fremantle all his working life.

From humble beginnings, selling newspapers in Fremantle after school to a full working history within the maritime industry, Peter called Fremantle his home port for a number of years. First, joining the Australian Merchant Navy sailing in and out of Fremantle on Merchant Cargo Ships. Later moving into tourism, Peter captained the Rottnest Island ferries, Swan River ferries and charter boat work. Peter also captained the ferries for whale watching during the humpback whale migration season.

Peter ended his sea going career skippering pilot boats at the port of Bunbury, approx. 150 kms south of Fremantle for 4 years then progressed to Tug Boat Master for the remaining 16 years maneuvering big ships around.
Peter is the birth son of Josie Boyle an Aboriginal Elder well known for her Song Writing, Story Telling and Singing.

So, join Peter and his crew on this informative 60-minute bus tour to explore Fremantle’s maritime history and early settlement convict days. Our sightseeing tour is created around a thoughtfully designed route within the iconic city of Fremantle. Our buses are climate/temperature controlled well known to comfortably accommodate passengers as we discover a city that goes back to the 18th Century.

Peter now wants to showcase Fremantle to the rest of the world and we look forward to you joining us on this-breath taking experience as we tour the Cosmopolitan City of Fremantle that showcases the very best Western Australia has to offer.

About Fremantle

Fremantle was the first area settled by the Swan River colonists in 1829. It was declared a city in 1929, and has a population of approximately 27,000. The city is named after Captain Charles Fremantle, the English Naval Officer who established a camp at the site on 2 May 1829. The city contains well-preserved 19th century buildings and other heritage features. The Western Australian vernacular diminutive for Fremantle is Freo. The Nyungar name for the area is Walyallup. The Fremantle Historical Bus Tour Company recently started its operation to provide sightseeing tours to thousands of visitors to Fremantle historical places. With entertaining and educational commentary provided our passengers quickly discover the authentic charm of Fremantle that makes it Western Australia's most visited City. Climb aboard and we'll show you Fremantle from its bustling harbours, it's beautifully preserved architecture, the convict built Old Fremantle Prison and the famed Cappuccino Strip and Markets.
